The work towards the FIS World Ski Championships in Falun 2027 has started. The Swedish Ski Association and Falun Municipality has decided that Ulrika Back Eriksson and Sara Tigerström Monfelt will continue as operational leaders until the World Championships company has been formed.
A little over a week has passed since the FIS Council announced Falun as host for the Nordic World Ski Championships 2027. The two candidate mangers Sara Tigerström Monfelt and Ulrika Back Eriksson will continue managing the work until a World Championships company has been founded. The Swedish Ski Association and Falun Municipality is already discussing the company formation and the intention is to have a decision about the World Championships Company during the autumn 2022.
The work towards Falun 2027 will intensify during the autumn. Falun 2027 will attend meetings with FIS, reports will be made and time frames will be set. A kick off for all World Championships hosts 2026 and 2027 will be held in September. Falun 2027 is also invited to attend FIS’ final inspection of the Nordic World Ski Championships 2023 in Planica, Slovenia.
The World Championship venue Lugnet is as always very busy. At the moment it is hosting the Swedish Smart Energy Summer cup in Rollerski and the Swedish National Team in Cross Country Skiing is here on a training camp. On the 17th of June the World Cup in Mountainbike will be held during a week-long bicycle festival in Falun and Borlänge.
Falun 2027 is also very happy about the decision about hosting another World Cup on Lugnet; in November 2022 the first ever World Cup in Big Air for Snowboard and Free Ski will be held.
The Falun 2027 team wish everyone a nice summer and is looking forward to working together towards a new ski festival in Falun 2027!
