Sara Tigerström Monfelt: “A team with extensive experience, solid expertise, and great heart”

The competition management team for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun 2027 has been appointed. Per Busk (Ski Jumping), Lars-Erik Eriksson (Nordic Combined), and Per Lindberg (Cross-Country Skiing) will serve as Chief of Competition for their respective disciplines.

As a central part of the sports organization, the competition management team will play a key role in delivering world-class events in 2027. Sara Tigerström Monfelt, Chief Operating Officer of Falun 2027, is confident in the newly appointed leadership.

– Per Busk, Lars-Erik Eriksson, and Per Lindberg form a strong leadership team with extensive experience, solid expertise, and a deep passion and heart for both the sport and for Falun, says Tigerström Monfelt.

The Chief of Competition is responsible for the sporting aspects—ensuring that the competitions are conducted according to the rules and will lead their respective sports organizations. All three have extensive experience from previous roles in both World Cups and World Championships. They were all involved in the World Ski Championships in Falun 2015 but in different roles at that time. The team has already begun its work, and they were also present at the World Championships in Trondheim to observe, learn and build relationships.

To support the leadership team and build long-term capacity, three Assistant Chief of Competition have also been appointed: Simon Eklund (Ski Jumping), Marie Rapp (Nordic Combined), and Mikaela Sundbaum (Cross-Country Skiing).

– We are investing in the future with a younger generation of assistant directors, all of whom bring strong skills and dedication. We’ve assembled an excellent team, and I look forward to working together as we prepare for the upcoming test events, says Tigerström Monfelt.
