Today, the media accreditation portal for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun 2027 opens. The portal will remain open until 31 December 2026, and we expect more than 1,000 journalists to apply to cover the winter’s major Nordic skiing event.
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun will officially open on 24 February 2027. Over the following eleven days, until 7 March, World Championship medals will be contested in the Nordic disciplines of ski jumping, Nordic combined and cross-country skiing.
Today (14 September), the accreditation portal opens for media representatives.
“More than 1,000 media representatives were on site working at the 2025 World Championships in Trondheim, and we expect the same high level of interest from the media for the World Championships in Falun,” says Anna Tynell Segerström, head of media operations at Falun 2027.
The accreditation portal will remain open until 31 December. All applications from radio and TV broadcasters will be handled by Infront, in cooperation with Falun 2027.
“Our Main Media Centre (MMC) will be located at Lugnet Sporthall, which will house the Press Centre, the IBC (International Broadcast Centre) and the TV Compound for Rights Holding Broadcasters. This is the same location as the Media Centre during the 2015 World Championships in Falun. From the Media Centre, it is just a five-minute walk to both competition venues: the ski jumping arena and the cross-country skiing arena,” says Emelie Björck, Media Coordinator at Falun 2027.
In addition to the Main Media Centre, there will be sub photo centres and mixed zones at both competition venues, as well as a sub-media centre and a mixed zone at Medal Plaza in Stora Torget, in the centre of Falun, where the medals will be awarded.
The Press Centre will also feature a dedicated media restaurant, Lugnet Restaurant and Café, offering breakfast, lunch and à la carte options.
The easiest way for media representatives to get to Lugnet during the competition days is by using the organisation’s shuttle buses.
“All official media hotels are located in Borlänge. From all designated media hotels, journalists can travel free of charge by bus, using their accreditation, to and from the competition venue at Lugnet and the medal ceremonies at Medal Plaza. The buses will operate from early morning until late evening, making this by far the smoothest and easiest way to travel to and from the competitions and medal ceremonies,” says Tynell Segerström, adding:
“Preparations are progressing well, and we are really looking forward to getting the winter’s major skiing celebration underway. We will have 70 Heroes – the name we give to our volunteers – working throughout the World Championship weeks to create the best possible conditions for the media to report from the World Championships in Falun.”
