Kajsa Sjösvärd, currently serving as a senior analyst and advisor at the Swedish Defence University, has been appointed as Head of Security for the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun.
The World Championship organization in Falun is expanding, and with Kajsa Sjösvärd as Head of Security, another strategic position has been filled. In her current role, Kajsa supports and trains various stakeholders. She has led complex crisis situations both nationally and internationally and has served as operations manager for the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB), the EU, and the Swedish Rapid Response Team under the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. She has previously been the Director of Emergency Preparedness in Dalarna and has extensive experience in how different actors collaborate during the planning or management of challenging situations.
– Kajsa has extensive experience in all aspects of security work, both nationally and internationally. From our first meeting, I got a strong and positive impression of Kajsa as a person, along with an immense depth of knowledge. In addition, she is well connected in the local community and is, among other things, a youth leader at Falu IK, says Jonas Peterson, CEO of Skid-VM i Falun AB.
In recent years, security has been given significantly higher priority than in previous World Championships. As reported earlier, the FIS Hosting contract has increased demands on the event organization concerning security efforts. These demands are driven both by the global security landscape and threats, as well as weather-related risks.
Since 2024, Kajsa Sjösvärd has been working as a consultant for Falun 2027. After attending the World Championships in Trondheim and engaging in dialogue with Vasaloppet regarding their security work, she is already well-acquainted with and active in the ongoing preparations.
– The goal of my work is to create a safe and secure event for everyone in Dalarna during this period – athletes, media, and visitors – so that everyone on site can fully enjoy the event, says Kajsa Sjösvärd.
Kajsa Sjösvärd will begin her new role September 1st.
