Inspiring start of the season for Frida Westman

The ambassador of Falun 2027 Frida Westman won her first podium with third place in the Ski Jumping World Cup in the season opening in Poland. Westman´s impressive start of the season is very inspiring for the upcoming season. The planning process for the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun 2027 has also had an exciting start after Falun being elected as host in Milan May 25th.

Frida Westman did an impressive performance with a third and a fourth place at the Ski Jumping World Cup season opening in Wisla, Poland, the past weekend. She did not only win the first podium in her carrier, but also the first Swedish podium in 30 years.
– I am very satisfied with the jumping and especially with my way of doing it and keeping the focus through the competition, says Frida Westman.
The Swedish Ski jumper had her break through last season with good results in the World Cup and at the Olympics. She has high expectations of the season, but is a little bit surprised about the podium already in the opening.
– I did not expect a podium in the first World Cup, but it was a goal for the season.

The winter season on snow is coming closer and it could be in Falun next weekend that she will make her first jumps on snow this season.

– I might participate in the Norway´s cup in Falun the weekend November 20 and 21. Falun is the first hill with snow possibilities and as it is a weekend without World Cup it would work well, she says.

The work towards the World Ski Championships in Falun 2027 has kicked off during the autumn. The project managers Ulrika Back and Sara Tigerström Monfelt participated at the International Ski Federation, FIS, autumn meeting in Zürich. A kick off meeting for all FIS World Ski Championship organizers 2026 and 2027 and a seminar for organizers 2023-2027 were held. In addition, the project managers have initiated the work on home ground.
– We are now focusing on the development and communication plans. We also work close together with the regional business network Beyond Skiing and cooperate to tie the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships-project and the business network closer to each other, says Ulrika Back.
