Over 50 persons from the local organizing committee (LOC) of Falun 2027 will travel to the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim for a study trip and participate in a study group program. The World Championships in Trondheim will take place from February 26 to March 9 and will conclude with Falun 2027 taking over the World Championship flag from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation and Trondheim 2025.
The purpose of the study trip is to observe, learn, and to be inspired by the World Ski Championship event in Norway; what have they done well? What can Falun 2027 adopt, and what do we want to do even better?
– We have a lot of experience from 2015, but it’s very important to bring in new external perspectives on developing the World Championship concept. I am also grateful that the LOC of Trondheim 2025 is so open and willing to share knowledge and information, which will help us organize better and better championships, says Jonas Peterson, CEO Falun 2027.
Sustainability is one of several areas where knowledge exchange is important and useful. Trondheim 2025 has a clear goal to reduce carbon emissions and wants to inspire upcoming championships to do the same:
– We are monitoring our sustainable actions so future World Ski Championships can be even better. We will hand over our emissions calculation to Falun 2027 and I hope it motivates Falun to reduce their emissions even further and beat us, says Åge Skinstad, CEO of the World Ski Championships in Trondheim 2025.
Falun 2027 will also have an exhibition space in the fan zone at the arena with different activities and the possibility to meet and greet with future volunteers and spectators. The Norwegian market is important both for future ticket sales and volunteer recruitment.
Falun 2027 has offered key cooperation partners and stakeholders the opportunity to join the trip and accommodation package. Falu Energi och Vatten, LUFAB, Centrala Stadsrum, Visit Dalarna, the Police, Falu Municipality, and the Swedish Ski Federation are some of the stakeholders that will be present in Trondheim.
