Falun is a place for everyone! It is Dalarna´s largest municipality with almost 60 000 residents. We are proud of our history! During the 17th century Falun was Sweden´s second largest city and helped form the Sweden of today. Falun is a World Heritage site since 2001.

Falun is a reason for sports and is well-known for excellent sport facilities, and the Lugnet venue is situated within 2 km from the main square. The lake Runn is an archipelago excellent for boating and swimming in summer and a heaven for Nordic skating with plowed tracks in winter.

Lugnet
Lugnet Venue in Falun is one of the most complete sports and recreational facilities in the world. At Lugnet 60 of the Swedish Sports Confederation’s 70 special sports can be practiced. Lugnet has 1-1,2 million visitors per year.
Skidspelen
Svenska Skidspelen is annually arranged in Falun and for over 70 times World Cup competitions in Cross Country has been arranged here.
The World Heritage
In 2001, the industrial-historic landscape around Stora Kopparberget and Falun was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. A thousand years of history is the basis of this fantastic award.
