Falun is Dalarnas largest municipality and red wooden houses and the ski jumping hills are important landmarks. Falun was in the 1600s an international city with the largest and most modern workplace – Falun Copper Mine. The Mining Area of the Great Copper Mountain is today listed as a World Heritage. Falun’s proximity to lakes and forests give you great opportunities to enjoy sports, nature and recreation. Falun has a lively town centre with many shops, as well as cosy cafés and restaurants.

Lugnet Venue

Lugnet Venue in Falun is one of the most complete sports and recreational facilities in the world. At Lugnet 60 of the Swedish Sports Confederation’s 70 special sports can be practiced.


Svenska Skidspelen is the annual World Cup event in Cross Country Skiing at Lugnet Venue.

The World Heritage

In 2001, the industrial-historic landscape around Stora Kopparberget and Falun was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List. A thousand years of history is the basis of this fantastic award.
