In recent days, the Final Inspection and the eighth and final FIS Coordination Group meeting ahead of this winter’s FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun have taken place.

The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun are fast approaching. Over the past few days, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has had a large number of representatives on site in Falun. Their visit included site inspections at the ski jumping and Nordic combined venues, the cross-country skiing venue, and Medal Plaza — Stora Torget, Falun’s main square, where the medal ceremonies will be held.
The venue inspections were followed by the FIS Coordination Group meeting. These meetings have been held every six months since Falun was awarded the hosting rights for the upcoming winter’s FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. This was therefore the eighth and final FIS Coordination Group meeting.
– We are very pleased with the days we have spent together with FIS and a number of key stakeholders. We have received clear confirmation that we are on the right track as we prepare for this winter’s major celebration of skiing and community. Following these meetings, we feel confident about the next steps and the final preparations ahead of the Championships entering the delivery phase, says Kajsa Sjösvärd, CEO of Falun 2027.
A total of 14 FIS representatives attended the FIS Final Inspection, alongside representatives from partner organisations and stakeholders, including Infront Sports, NCP, Lahti 2029, the Municipality of Falun, LUFAB, Visit Dalarna, the Swedish Police and the County Administrative Board.
