EU Ambassadors Visit Falun 2027

Last week, around twenty EU ambassadors travelled through Dalarna. One of their stops was at Lugnet in Falun, where they were briefed on preparations for this winter’s Nordic World Ski Championships.

— It feels incredibly valuable to be able to showcase both the event and our destination, says Sara Tigerström Monfelt, Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer at Falun 2027.

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union rotates on a six-month basis, and until 30 June it is Cyprus that holds the chair. Last week, Cyprus’s Ambassador Solon Savva, along with more than twenty fellow EU ambassadors, visited the championships office at Lugnet in Falun.

— I was very impressed by Lugnet and the entire environment around the arena. The venue and its surroundings offer excellent conditions for hosting a world-class championship. What we saw was a combination of world-class competition facilities and a highly experienced, passionate, and committed leader of the local organising committee, embodied by Sara Tigerström Monfelt, whose clear vision and strong dedication permeated our entire visit, says Ambassador Solon Savva.

The ambassadors travelled around Dalarna over two days. The visit to the region, organised by the Cypriot Embassy, included — in addition to Falun 2027 — stops at Hitachi Energy, SSAB, and EcoDataCenter, as well as some of Dalarna’s most iconic cultural landmarks, among them Falun Mine, Nils Olsson Dalahästar in Nusnäs, and Carl Larsson-gĂ¥rden in Sundborn. — The visit was highly rewarding, educational, and enriching. Every part of the programme contributed to a deeper understanding and appreciation of Dalarna, making the experience truly memorable, says Savva.

Sara Tigerström Monfelt, Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer at Falun 2027, led the championships portion of the ambassadors’ visit at Lugnet: — When the Dalarna County Administrative Board asked whether we would like to present our championship preparations to the EU ambassadors, the answer was obvious. Interest in Falun 2027 is strong internationally, and it feels incredibly valuable to be able to showcase both the event, and our destination, she says, adding: — The view over the arena from our conference room added an extra dimension to the presentation. Being able to talk about the work ahead of this winter’s great ski celebration while guests could look out over Lugnet made the meeting both vivid and inspiring, says Tigerström Monfelt.
