Tuesday, April 21 marked another partner meeting for companies in Beyond Skiing — this time at the premises of Dalarnas Museum. Around 100 people attended the partner meeting to enjoy breakfast, network, and receive updates.
Dalarnas Museum’s Anna Eriksson and Elin Alsiok welcomed guests and spoke about the enormous interest in the World Championships beanie that Dalarnas Museum has developed together with Falun 2027:
— We could never have dreamed of this level of interest. We’ve passed 500 applications from people wanting to knit the 150 beanies that will be given to all medallists during the World Championships. We will also be selling knitting kits so that everyone has the chance to knit their own World Championships beanie, says Elin Alsiok.
Lars Öberg, Head of Cross-Country at the Swedish Ski Association, spoke about the significance of hosting a World Championships on home soil:
— It’s something special to get the chance to compete in a World Championships at home. It’s been twelve years since our Swedish athletes last had this opportunity. That’s something we need to make the most of. And Falun is a competition venue with high standing, not least thanks to the atmosphere, the crowds, and the courses, says Öberg, who also oversees ski jumping in Sweden.
Ski jumping is a discipline that has received a major boost thanks to Frida Westman, who this past season stood on the World Cup podium and finished fourth at the Winter Olympics.
— Ski jumping is huge internationally, and there is great potential in Sweden as well. It’s important for Sweden and the Swedish Ski Association to invest more strategically in ski jumping. And Frida has enormous potential, says Öberg.
During the gathering at Dalarnas Museum, Falun 2027’s Acting CEO Kajsa Sjösvärd also gave a presentation on the road ahead toward the World Championships celebrations in Falun and Dalarna in February and March next year.
That World Championships excitement is building is clear not least from the steady growth in the number of partner companies in Beyond Skiing. 174 companies are now part of the network.
