The right-of-use agreement between Falun Municipality and Falun 2027 has now been finalized.
— The agreement gives us confidence in our continued planning and allows us to focus on working together to create the best possible conditions for staging a fantastic World Championships, says Kajsa Sjösvärd, CEO of Falun 2027.
Earlier this week, Falun Municipal Executive Board approved the right-of-use agreement that has now been signed between Falun Municipality and Falun 2027. FIS Nordic Ski World Championships will take place in Falun from 24 February to 7 March 2027.
The agreement covers the entire process, from preparations and the setup of the World Championships venue at Lugnet to the staging of the competitions and the subsequent dismantling after the Championships. The purpose is to clarify the division of responsibilities between Falun Municipality and Falun 2027 regarding facilities, areas, operations and costs, among other things.
The agreement stipulates that Falun 2027 will pay SEK 12 million to Falun Municipality. The amount corresponds to the costs and loss of revenue that the municipality will incur.
— This agreement is an important step towards the 2027 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. It clarifies the division of responsibilities and gives both the municipality and the Falun 2027-organization better conditions for planning and delivering the event in a secure and responsible manner, says Liza Lundberg (S), Chair of the Municipal Executive Board of Falun Municipality.
The division of responsibilities between the parties is that Falun 2027 is responsible for organizing the World Championships, with overall responsibility for planning, preparations, delivery of the event and commitments towards FIS (International Ski and Snowboard Federation). Falun Municipality will support the work and help create the right conditions for a successful event for participants, residents and visitors alike.
— As an organizer, it is important for us to have clear conditions and to make the journey towards the World Championships in close cooperation with the municipality. The agreement gives us a clear picture of our responsibilities and what applies going forward. It gives us confidence in our continued planning and allows us to focus on working together to create the best possible conditions for staging a fantastic World Championships, says Kajsa Sjösvärd, CEO of Falun 2027.
