Falun Municipality and the Swedish Ski Association have now returned the FIS World Championship Questionnaire, a detailed questionnaire from the International Ski Federation.
The work towards a World Championships in Falun 2027 continues and the latest weeks focus has been on the answers requested in the questionnaire from the FIS. 20 different key areas are highlighted in the questionnaire, among these; accommodation, transport, competition programme, weather conditions, legal aspects, health services, infrastructure, venues and facilities.
Falun wants to deliver a groundbreaking championship with top-level venues and that is the overall main message in the submitted questionnaire.
– We have answered 100 different questions and the work has been done in cooperation between different partners; Region Dalarna, Falun Energy & Water, Lugnet i Falun AB och Visit Dalarna. Essentially it is about how we intend to realize the championships, says Ulrika Back Eriksson, Candidate Manager at the Swedish Ski Association.
A key part in the submitted questionnaire is a number of Letter of support for the candidacy. The Swedish Government via Amanda Lind, the Minister for Culture and Democracy with responsibility for sport, has contributed. Also, our former governor Ylva Thörn and the Swedish Olympic Committee, Region Dalarna, Dalarna University, Visit Dalarna and Visita have supported the candidacy with Letters of Support, says Sara Tigerström Monfelt, Candidate Manager at Falun Municipality.
In addition, the great support from many local and regional companies are mentioned. More than 140 companies have joined the business network Beyond Skiing 2027 and the number increase every week.
– The business network Beyond Skiing is a really important support in our candidacy work, says Sara Tigerström Monfelt.
Now with the questionnaire submitted the International Ski Federation has time to evaluate the answers and if necessary, ask for completion. The FIS Council needs to approve the candidacy at their meeting late autumn 2021.
