Skidspelen and the FIS World Cup kicks off with an inspiring breakfast

The annual Svenska Skidspelen with the FIS World Cup in Falun attracts the world’s best skiers. The event also moderates the best volunteers in the world and 600 volunteers have a very important role to create the ski festival in Falun. Skidspelen kicked off this morning with an inspirational breakfast at Lugnet.

Svenska Skidspelen starts today with the FIS World Cup 10 K distance at Lugnet Venue. Already this morning the breakfast was held at Lugnet where 350 had the possibility to listen to different sport event topics; the changing media report of sports, sports events today and in the future, the importance of keeping the volunteers and a lot more. The breakfast was organized by Skidspelen in cooperation with Falu Municipality, Borlänge Municipality, Företagarna in Dalarna, Dalarna Business and Beyond Skiing.

The volunteer involvement in Falun is huge and 600 volunteers are involved in Skidspelen. Many of these were volunteers during the World Championships in Falun 2015 and will be an important part of the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2027.

– Our volunteers are absolutely amazing and they all do fantastic contributions during Svenska Skidspelen, says Ulrika Back, project manager Falun 2027 and CEO Svenska Skidspelen.

At the breakfast Patrik Jemteborn from the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2025 in Trondheim talked about collaborations between sport events on international level. Patrik Jemteborn is head of sales and partnerships at Trondheim 2025 and he is attending Falun and Svenska Skidspelen with a delegation from the Trondheim organization.

– It was a very inspirational breakfast and it was nice to meet so many of our Beyond Skiing partners, says Sara Tigerström Monfelt, project manager Falun 2027:

– It gave a good picture of the complexity of big sport events and the importance of collaborations and experience sharing. Now I am looking forward to watching great races at Skidspelen and to continue discussing real collaboration possibilities with Trondheim 2025, says Sara Tigerström Monfelt.

The FIS World Cup and Svenska Skidspelen attract the best Cross-Country skiers in the world. In the Swedish team we find both the stars and World Champions medalists but also young talents, as the team is extended on home-ground. The Sprint on Saturday seems to attract a huge crowd and on Sunday it is time for the new format Mixed Relay again, a format tested for the first time in the World Cup at Svenska Skidspelen last year.

– We are looking forward to a great ski festival at Lugnet, says Ulrika Back.
